Translation

*Translator's note: he actually sings a whole bunch of particles not mentioned in the lyrics. HAI ni HAI he HAI to HAI wo HAI ni chire. It's completely nonsensical in meaning but that seems to be the point.

The syrupy, bewitching, sweet, sweet seduction

caresses my throat, flows down my lungs and extends toward my fingertips.

I can't stop, I don't care for stopping, accelerating inside my head,

I want to soar toward places I can't see.

(The datura) made me realize that my clutched heart is alive.

I feel my heartbeat so strongly as if it were swaying my body itself.

Sound rushes, light rushes, I forget all words,

and the freedom of a newborn baby is screaming through my entire body.

"Raising your head, break it into pieces. Tear up the walls of your blood vessels.

Throw up, more, more.

Once you're able to see the delicate world, release your hands immediately.

Because it's already over,

let your remains dissolve in the high*, now."

I want to hear a warm voice. I want to touch a warm skin.

I want to see a warm smile. I want to have a warm smile.

Let me hear a warm voice. Let me see a warm smile.

I don't care whose it is. Give me warmth.

"Going down on your hands and feet and rummaging around your wonderful memories,

yes, looking back on your flashbacks, let's try doing everything over again.

Once you're able to see the delicate world, release your hands immediately.

Because it's already over,

let your remains (dissolve) in the high*, now. Toward the high"

Expanding toward ease, toward warmth,

my fingertips melted, my skin burned, and boundaries disappeared.

Absorbing light, absorbing light, I can feel the world,

and nothing changes. Even if I disappear.

*Translator's note: He doesn't actually sing kairaku like the lyrics originally say, Sono sings high, as in getting high of the Datura flower. As another note, chiru also means scattering, like flower petals. I was a bit torn on what word to translate it as so I figured I'd just add a note here.

**Datura is a flower with psychoactive properties. In the book Coinlocker Babies by Murakami Ryu (one of the many books Sono has read), the datura flower plays an important role. If you have the chance to read the book, I strongly recommend doing so, as there are a lot of references here and the song is just going to make a lot more sense when you've read the book.
